Funded by a £240K grant from UK Research and Innovation’s Innovate UK and developed in partnership with Nottingham Trent University (NTU), the Goodness Metric is academically grounded and underpinned by design thinking as an approach to innovation.
The partnership ensures that The Goodness Metric® is supported by a robust methodology, with validated results, giving charities confidence in the evidence they present.
Using this expertise, iterative design and real-world testing, we built The Goodness Metric® that’s easy to use, encourages debate, and tells your stories of doing Good.

How it works
The Goodness Metric® is now at the heart of our consultancy offer. Whether you're a large charity, a grant-making body, or a corporate funder, the Goodness Metric® will help you:
- Reflect on your purpose: understand the alignment of purpose with activities and outcomes so that areas of impact can be explored. We use guided workshops to map current activities to strategy both past and present.
- Tell stories of Good: explore the data you have and align this to Global Indicators of impact. Using co-designed sessions, we help you understand the data you collect, map this to global indicators, and tell your stories of Good.
- Plan your development: After steps 1 and 2 we help you ask, what next? Through layering and reflecting on ESG criteria we help you plan development of the activities so that more impact can be planned.
