“We consider our home to be a haven for peace and a place of welcome and hospitality. We are committed to providing a high standard of care and nursing, providing it with dignity, and maintaining our residents’ independence for as long as people wish and is as possible.”

What you’ll find at St Paul's

Accommodation

Inside St Paul’s, you’ll find spacious lounges and communal areas designed to promote social interactions, as well as dedicated spaces to boost wellbeing.

Alongside areas in which to socialise and enjoy the company of fellow residents, there are also spaces where you can enjoy private moments on your own, or with your loved ones.

We have a large community lounge, dining room and kitchen, and each floor has a smaller satellite kitchen for residents’ use. The home operates over three floors and there are lifts available at each side of the home for easy access.

Bedrooms

There are 24 bedrooms, all ensuite with a wet room shower, basin and lavatory, and designed to give you comfort, privacy and independence.

Every bathroom meets disability standards and where further equipment is required, this is identified during the pre-assessment stage. Where people have mobility difficulties, we provide hoisting equipment and other aids and equipment.

Most bedrooms have a lovely garden view.

We encourage everyone to personalise their own room with photographs, ornaments and anything that makes them feel more comfortable e.g. radio etc. Where an individual has been assessed as requiring additional equipment, this is assessed by the relevant professionals e.g. occupational therapist.

Nourishing meals for health and wellness

We have commissioned an external company called Elior to help us source, cook and provide a delicious menu for you to choose your meals from. We are able to cater for all dietary needs and snacks and beverages are available throughout the day or night.

Visitors are very welcome!

We encourage residents to invite their family and friends to St. Pauls. All visitors receive a hospitable welcome. We require all visitors to sign in and out of the home using the visitors book which is held at reception

During visits, families often spend time with their relatives in the privacy of a resident’s own room. A private lounge on the ground floor is also available. Our team will cater with refreshments. We do recommend arranging visits in advance though so that the resident is available for receiving their guests when they arrive.

Individual Care and support

We understand that each person is unique, and we will tailor our care according to their needs and wishes.

Care plans are highly personalised and address how people wish to be cared for, supported and treated. Where decisions need to be made, the care plan captures this so that it is explicit to care and nursing staff.

Every care plan has a risk assessment consideration so that we can ensure people are safeguarded, whilst also having the freedom to take informed risks. You will have a lead nurse allocated to work with you and develop your care plan and risk assessments. Keyworkers will work with you to deliver your care as planned, your care plan will be reviewed at a minimum monthly, or when there is a change in your care.

People are offered a copy of their own care plan and can request any information pertaining to their care records at any time.

Meeting your health needs

St. Paul’s has a dedicated general practitioner (GP) who visits the home regularly and holds clinics in the home itself. This is particularly useful so that residents do not need to attend the surgery or await appointments.

You can retain your current GP if you prefer, providing they are within the catchment area to visit St Paul’s should the need arise.

We also work closely with a range of other professionals, such as:

  • psychiatrists
  • dieticians
  • opticians
  • dentists
  • occupational therapists
  • speech and language therapists
  • chiropodists
  • any other allied health professional required to meet needs.

Arrange a visit

There’s no better way to get a feel for somewhere than coming for a visit, meet the team and have a look around the home and grounds.

You’ll be most welcome!

Providing professional care and support with compassion and respect

Our Team

We are proud of our team. Every colleague is highly skilled and follows a comprehensive learning pathway of continuing professional development. Specialised training in areas of people’s needs is regularly reviewed to ensure we are providing safe care and treatment at all times. We offer this with compassion and respect, ensuring everyone is treated with the greatest dignity.

The team comprises of a registered manager and a deputy manager together with nurses and care assistants. There is a lead nurse on every shift so that nursing and clinical support is always available.

Maximising the welfare of our residents is extremely important to us, so we regularly assess the staffing levels in the home. This is assessed against the number of people currently residing in the home and the care needs of each person.

As this is a home for Sisters of Charity of St Paul the Apostle and other female residents, we only employ female nursing and care staff. We adopt the Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9 (Part 1).

Activities

We offer an extensive programme of social events, activities and entertainment organised by our dedicated activities co-ordinator who designs a programme of activities based on people’s preferences.

On special occasions we have external entertainers visit for music and shows.

If there is an activity that a person would like to do, we make every effort to provide this.

Meeting spiritual needs

People of any faith or no faith are welcome with individual spiritual needs met and attended to with sensitivity.

A chapel within the nursing home is used by the sisters and all living in the home are also most welcome to attend mass and use the chapel for prayer when they wish.
